Trojans belt out 12 hits, breeze by CWL

POSTED: July 2, 2009

BLAIRSBURG - Eight of the nine batters in the Northeast Hamilton lineup punctured Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne for at least one hit here Thursday night and the final score reflected the Trojans' offensive prowess.

Behind Marcus Mechaelsen's second home run in as many nights, Northeast Hamilton bombarded the Panthers with 12 hits en route to an easy 17-3 victory in 5 innings.

Mechaelsen, who belted a grand slam on Wednesday in an easy win over CAL, went yard with a 2-run shot in the second inning off CWL reliever Jesse Carroll. By the end of the inning the Trojans were already up 11-3 and they cruised the remainder of the way.

Kyle Klaver finished 3-for-3 with a double and RBI at the dish for NEH (13-9). Clay Harreld roped a single and double and collected three RBIs, while Seth McGowan went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Zac Seaman, Caleb Rapp, A.J. Meyer and Bryce Kauffman all singled.

Rapp picked up the win on the mound. He went four innings before handing off to McGowan for the final frame.
